Junior High Youth
Opportunities for Junior High youth at St. Mark's include, but are not limited to:
Worship - Junior High youth are expected to participate in the ministry of acolyte/torchbearer during their two years in catechism instruction. They are also encouraged to share their talent with voice or a musical instrument and assist in other areas of worship such as being an usher or greeter.
Sunday School – Catechism class is being taught during Sunday School this year. “Here We Stand” team teachers are Aaron Carpenter, Tim Carpenter, Elizabeth Franklin, and Susan Tucker. This year the youth are learning all about The Lord’s Prayer, Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. These young people will affirm their Baptism on Pentecost Sunday, May 11th. Their classroom is located in the Faith room in the downstairs Parish Hall.
Jr. High Youth Group – Each month a variety of activities (outside of catechism class) are held such as a lock-in, bowling, beach/mission trip, going to the movies, attending a Christian band concert or play, etc.
You are always welcome to be a part of this ministry for jr. high youth. If you have questions, are interested in volunteering with this group, would like to receive the jr. high activity calendar or just want or need more information, please contact our director of Youth and Family Ministry, Susan Tucker at 828-459-2161, ext. 20.
